IT infrastructure services provider Terremark Worldwide announced on Monday that telecommunications provider Verizon Business has signed a deal to purchase colocation services at its Network Access Points of the Capital Region and the Americas.
The announcement follows Terremark's acquisition last month of 27 acres of land directly adjacent to its data center campus at the NAP of the Capital Region.
The colocation services will meet the increasing demand from Verizon's federal clients to deliver FISMA-compliant data center services.
Verizon will use 25,000 square feet of colocation space at Terremark's NAPs in Miami and Culpeper, Virginia.
These two facilities that are designed to meet or exceed federal government standards for data communications and hosting facilities requiring strict guidelines for power and cooling redundancy.
"Our agreement with Verizon signifies a defining moment for Terremark," says Manuel D. Medina, Terremark's chairman and CEO. "Verizon's use of our facilities demonstrates the quality of the high performance environment we offer our carrier partners such as Verizon."
