ThePlanet Launches New Technical Support Library

Web host The Planet has launched a free, online technical support library designed to help individuals and businesses quickly and easily find solutions tailored to their environments.

According to The Planet’s Monday announcement, the Planet Knowledgebase (support.theplanet.com) contains more than 1,300 how-to articles, with tutorials on various topics ranging from how to install SSLs in cPanel or Windows, configuring iptables for firewalls, creating and editing DNS zones, and error-handing in PHP, to name just a few.

“As the hosting industry grows and matures, we’ve seen increased interest from customers and prospects who want to enhance their technical knowledge,” customer care vice president Jim Picone said in a statement. “Our team of technical support experts developed The Planet Knowledgebase over time, compiling solutions to our customers’ most common questions. We’re launching the site publicly so that anyone around the globe, regardless of hosting provider, can find the information they need quickly and easily, at any time of day. It’s a one-stop site that will save businesses and users valuable time by having hundreds of how-to’s at their fingertips.”

The Planet Knowledgebase is open to the public, and more than four out of five of the topics are provider-agnostic. The site also contains The Planet-specific articles, which users can browse by topic, or search from the home page using keywords. The Planet said fresh content is added daily, and these new articles are featured in a special section on the home page.

To encourage quality content, the community can rate each article on a scale of “poor” to “awesome.” The best-rated articles are featured on the home page, and the lesser-rated articles are flagged for The Planet staff to refine.
