1&1 Increase Domain Renew Fee

Today, 1&1 send out an email to all their customer about increasing Domain Renew fee start from 07/01/2011. See below for the detail of the email.

"1&1 Internet Inc. appreciates your business, and we hope that you are happy with our services.

We are writing today to inform you that as a result of price increases by the major domain registries, it has become necessary for us to adjust the rates for some domains. From time to time, the domain registries increase the costs associated with registering a domain. In order for 1&1 to stay
competitive and continue to offer you excellent services, we have made changes to our pricing structure as a result.

For domain renewals and new orders as of 07/01/2011, the following domain
rate changes will apply:

* .com, .net, .us, .org, .info, .biz domains will be increased from $8.99 to $9.99 per year.

The new price for your domain(s) will be applied to your next domain renewal after July 1, 2011.

1&1 is committed to offering very competitive prices and professional services in the domain environment and we hope to continue to meet and surpass your service expectations."

Although 1&1 only increase the registration fee a little bit, it might be signal that more companies will follow very soon, will godaddy be the next one?
